The Happy Geek's Coloring Book Review
I was super excited when I received this is the mail and it did not disappoint!
The Happy Geek's Coloring Book by awesome artists and geek girls
Colleen Palmer and
Jaleh Afshar has 40 unique pages to color. They cover a broad range of fandoms like sci-fi, fantasy, gaming, tabletop, kawaii, steampunk, etc. The designs range from simple to more detailed and theres a good mix of cartoonish cute and more realistic. There's also some great patterns and doodles. It’s not overly intricate like many adult colouring books, which I really like because those can take forever and it’s nice if you don’t have a ton of free time to be able to finish coloring one. Also that means it’s great for all ages, kids would love this book as well!
There is one design per page so there’s no bleed through that wrecks the other side and then you can remove them if you want to display. The paper quality is good, I tested it with colored pencils, markers and pens. I used Bic permanent marker which are very heavy duty so I put a piece of paper in between the pages or it would have bled through to the next page, but that’s only because they are permanent markers, it happens with any coloring book, regular markers are fine though.
So in conclusion, THIS BOOK ROCKS! I would highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys coloring. It’s super fun and great for leveling up your creativity. Also as you may know, coloring books have therapeutic qualities and are known to reduce stress and anxiety. And for someone like me who loves art but can’t draw well at all, they are great!
I give the The Happy Geek's Coloring Book ★★★★★!
Below are a few of my favorite designs from the book and the four pages I've colored so far...
I love this Lord of the Rings Hobbit house page, I did this one all with colored pencils.
This one was done with Bic permanent markers, I'll probably color in the white background with pencil crayon too when I get around to it! SPLAT! WHOOOSH! POW! BANG! BOOM! :D
Hehe, this one was fun but made me crave pizza really bad, lol! I used pencil crayons and did lots of shading to make each pizza slightly different, but still cheesy, pepperoni-y and yummy!
I think this one is my fav, so kawaii! I did the rainbow with markers, animals with colored pencil and their horns with silver shiny pen. I named them Whalechester and Corny. ♥
I give the The Happy Geek's Coloring Book ★★★★★!
