LEGO Star Wars Shadow Troopers
#75079 set...
I decided I wanted to try out some new Lego as I haven't bought a set in quite some time, and Disney just came out with a bunch of cool, fun sets with really awesome minifigs. I chose to start small with this first set and try my hand at taking some close up shots.
I mainly bought this set because I LOVE the Shadow versions of any Star Wars armour so the troopers and the Shadow Guards are fantastic. There is a lot of detail in the minifigs, in the armour on the troopers and the material folds on the guards. One thing I will say about the guards is that it is tricky to pose them so that the lightsaber pike is in a good position. A cool thing with the troopers blasters is that you can fire the little red piece out of the blaster by pressing on the lever that you get. A word of warning though, they fly very quickly and far so make sure you know where it flew to or your cat might get a new plaything.
Building the set was relatively easy and quick as the set only has 95 pieces. The ship has some nice and simple posing abilities, with the back wings being able to be placed at several angles and the little front ones as well. There are two missiles on the ship that you can launch by pressing on the back but these ones will not fly as fast or far as the blaster ones. I really enjoy the clear red pieces throughout the ship that glow when you shine light through it.
All in all, a fun and simple little set to add to your collection without breaking the bank. I bought it here in Canada for 15.95 plus tax.
