Black Metal Harley Quinn Cosplay

 

Geek Girl Mistress Zelda looks totally badass as her black metal version of Harley Quinn! Here's what she had to say about the concept...

"Harley Quinn is such a fun character to wear and to re-imagine. I've been cosplaying her for over a decade (classic version as well as my own designs). This is my 4th time designing an original Harley Quinn piece. I was inspired by Lady Haha's awesome punk rock leather Harley jacket, it made me want to make a battle vest. You may have seen black metal play a part in my photo aesthetic before - it worked so nicely for Harley as black metal corpse paint already shares a lot of designs with Harley's look, so it was really easy to combine the two. I also made my own battle vest which is traditional black metal and thrash metal attire (my favorite patch is the ball pit that says OPEN UP THIS PIT - perfect for Harley). Some spikes, pentagrams, leather, and ripped stockings later and you have my corpse paint HQ.

I sat on this costume for a while not knowing where to shoot it or with whom, but photographer ASHZ totally nailed it! I like the subdued color palette and heavy shadows he uses, it works really well for darker themes. We shot this in a public storage and a freight elevator. I would have liked so shoot it somewhere in the forest or outdoor industrial, but it was raining that day - this plan B for location actually ended up working really well."
