Batman, Catwoman & Poison Ivy Cosplay

Wacky Cherry, Ferasha and Endymion look incredible cosplaying together as Batman, Catwoman and Poison Ivy! Here's what they had to say...

"Cosplay is such a wonderful hobby because it brings people together – it often happens that you team up with a fellow cosplayer to pull off a group project, and after a while, you end up becoming BFFs. It’s exactly like this that Endymion, Wacky Cherry and Ferasha came to be close friends in real life, and they often work on their costumes together.

Ever since he was a boy, Endymion wanted to be Batman. He’s fascinated by the Dark Knight because he’s a superhero without superpowers who inspired millions to become better people, even though he’s full of grief and rage, and harbors a somewhat morbid obsession with his dead parents. Bringing the legend to life was a serious challenge: it’s not a costume easily done in one’s living room, using only the limited range of materials we have available here in Serbia. Yet Endymion really wanted to turn into Batman, so he worked hard every day for months, coming home from the office only to drudge more, often tinkering with the costume until wee hours of the morning. He says that the entire experience made him actually feel a bit like Bruce Wayne – being a successful businessman by day, fighting crime by night.

Catwoman was Wacky Cherry’s childhood idol – a perfect role model for a geeky little girl who admired a sassy anti-heroine famous for her independent spirit and sex appeal. For many years, she hesitated to do the cosplay of Selina Kyle because she felt she wasn’t ready for it – it’s only when Endymion started talking about Batman that she reconsidered the role, realizing that in her 20’s she grew up to be much closer to her idol than she’d previously thought. Wearing the Catwoman’s costume, Cherry feels confident and powerful, and she enjoys showing off her sexy side. She feels that Catwoman is a part of her now, and donning that role allows her to be Selina Kyle and herself at the same time.

Unlike her two friends, Ferasha was never a superhero fan – the only genre thing she ever took seriously were “The Watchmen”.  However, since the enthusiasm of the rest of the group was contagious, she jumped on the bandwagon and opted for Poison Ivy. The inspiration for her costume was Uma Thurman’s take on the character from “Batman and Robin” – a horrible, horrible film that can nevertheless work as an unintentional parody, offering bucket loads of undistilled camp. With her pin up sexiness and cringeworthy pick-up lines, Uma Thurman’s Ivy feels like something between a legendary femme fatale and a drunken matron. For Ferasha, after cosplaying a whole string of aloof male characters, it was a strangely liberating experience to recreate this particular version of Poison Ivy – including walking around the con shamelessly swaying her hips and flirting with anything that moves.

Also, the cat in the pictures is real – her name is Lilly and she lives in the photo studio."
