Colossalcon

Colossalcon is a one of a kind convention, our Geek Girl Gillykins had to make the trek from Toronto to attend! Colossalcon is held at the Kalahari Waterpark and Resort in Sandusky Ohio, whoever decided to put a convention at a waterpark is a GENIUS! Colossalcon is an anime, gaming and Japanese culture convention which took place June 5th- 8th 2014, it’s like your ultimate geeky summer vacation.

On top of your regular convention fare of amazing guests, panels, masquerade and dealers hall, Colossalcon has an entire resort full of bonus attractions such as a petting zoo featuring baby tigers, giraffes, camels and a bird feeding room. I personally had a blast going down waterslides and splashing in the wave pool as Minnie Mouse, of course I also checked out the hot tub bar and got myself one of the legendary Kalahari Sunrise's. Colossalcon’s nickname is bikini-con which many cosplayers make use off, how many Animes can you think of with a beach episode? Basically all of them! This is the perfect convention to get creative with swim variants of characters and have an amazing backdrop for photos.

I had the pleasure of rooming with a big group of cosplayers, photographers and videographers in the ‘Media Villa’ which just added to my convention experience. Check out the video coverage from Cosplay Videography (collaboration between: MLZ Studios and Kevin's Visuals) and some of the stills from Beat Down Boogie's upcoming Colossalcon videos, you need to see this convention to believe it!
